Press That Red Bulb 3 Times

Hey 👋🏻
There’s something rather bittersweet I want to share.
I figured out how to start the lawnmower. Today.
Yes, you heard it. It might feel trivial to those of you who already know how to operate one, but for me—someone checking off a whole darn list of things to learn as a new homeowner—it felt like such a relief.
There was this really memorable moment as I was reaching out to friends for help:
“Did you prime the carb? Press the red bulb 3 times.”
And there I was thinking,
“Prime the what now?” “Alright... I think the red bulb has something to do with starting the lawnmower.”
I followed the instruction and pressed the button 3 times. And there it was—the lawnmower started working.
I’m not sure when was the last time you felt this kind of bliss from learning something completely from scratch. It was perplexing. Confusing. Frustrating.
But it also felt great once I got that first success.
I hope that gives you a little inspiration, whether you’re just starting to learn about opioid management, or about to level up and dive into buprenorphine. You’ll probably start somewhere from the beginning.
And in case you are about to learn buprenorphine, here are a few concepts I’d recommend starting with:
Read a review article on buprenorphine (this one’s pretty solid and a personal favorite)
Uncouple the misconception that buprenorphine is the same as Suboxone
Familiarize yourself with the dosage forms—like Suboxone, Subutex, Butrans, Belbuca, etc.
By the way, we’re thinking about designing a buprenorphine pocket guide. Any thoughts on how you’d want it? Let us know.
See you next week.
I still see “suboxone patch” in notes by providers and it triggers me…. To reach out for education opportunity. 💗💗💗
